Quick Lost Thoughts (Spoiler Free)

....

Didn't love it...

Didn't hate it either...

Still processing...

I guess Damon Lindelof & Carlton Cuse took Stephen King's advice (read it in Entertainment Weekly a few years back) about that final shot. Gonna check out the alternate endings on Jimmy Kimmel. More too come...

....

There's no such thing as a perfect ending. Stories are about the journey, not the destination. Well done.

I was disappointed to see the "alternate endings" were a joke, and yet, also a little relieved. I'm not sure I would want to know other possible endings.

I'm with you on this one. I enjoyed it, but I wasn't blown away. I'm certainly not mad about it, as some people seem to be.

I was okay with the shift away from the mythology of the island at the end. I think that's where some people became angry. they wanted more about the island.

Cuse & Lindelof dug themselves too deep a hole. It would have been impossible to tie all the mysteries together. Although, I remember early on when they boasted that there was a rational explanation for everything. I think that encouraged fans to search for "clues" — which turned out to be stuff the writers simply thought were cool. While clever, the show just wasn't as deep as we thought.

And even if the answer turned out to be Aliens, Atlantis or The Bermuda Triangle, someone would have been angry somewhere. I *was* surprised how little they attempted to offer a more solid hint. Maybe it'll be on the DVD... nah, not going down that road.

I gave up on the show for a while, but the characters kept pulling me back in. The ending was sappy and manipulative, but I'll be damned if it didn't frickin' work! :)

Don't know if you read it, but a there was a great C&L interview in the New York Times.
