Just a short list of films on my radar:
5. The Last Exorcism (aka Cotton)
Don't know much about this supernatural thriller, except that it was produced by Eli Roth. The synopsis is as follows:
After a career spent helping the devout through prayer and trickery, Reverend Cotton Marcus invites a film crew to document his final fraudulent days as an exorcist. Soon his faith is truly tested when a desperate plea from the father of a possessed girl brings him face to face with the devil himself.
Might be worth a look...
4. [Rec] 2
Really dug the first one. Hope the supernatural angle is explored further.
At this point, I should know better than to expect a decent movie that contains Predators and/or Aliens, but hope springs eternal. I don't care much for the plot: ruthless assassins/killers abducted from earth and dropped in the middle of an alien jungle. Enter the Predators. Let the hunt begin! I'd be a lot more excited with Robert Rodriguez directing rather than just producing. I mean, Nimród Antal's Armored didn't exactly set the world on fire. There are some solid casting choices like Danny Trejo and Laurence Fishburne, while others ... Topher Grace and Adrien Brody... I'll reserve judgement. Why am I looking forward to this again?
This has the potential to be more fun than the likes of A-Team, Knight and Day or The Expendables... or it could be another nail in the coffin for female-driven action flicks. *shrugs*
I'm not sure if this will have mass appeal, but it certainly appeals to me. Corporate espionage. Dream thieves. A sci-fi thriller for grown-ups with Christopher Nolan at the helm, and Leonardo DiCaprio headlining a strong ensemble cast. No giant robots or 3D glasses anywhere in sight. What's not to like?
