Resident Evil: Extinction

Hard to say how I feel about this film or franchise as a whole. I mean, they’re entertaining on a basic level because they don’t pretend to be anything more than popcorn flicks. No character arcs, twists, reversals -- who needs ‘em? Just watch a Photoshopped Milla look badass as she slices and dices her way through zombies every ten minutes or so. Makes you think this screenwriting thing ain’t half as hard as some of us make it out to be. Outta the way, writer boy! Let the director, stunt people and FX guys show you how to tell a story! I will say this much, the opening and closing scenes are pretty good bookmarks, the problem lies with all that stuff in the middle.

I loved the first movie in this series. It was creepy and shocking. Every time it comes on TV, I will watch it.

The 2nd one was terrible. Once you take the story out of the claustrophobic underground lab, it loses some of its impact.

I will have to add RE:E to my list o' Netflix stuff. If it does have a decent opener/ender, then it is worth a watch.

It's a good set up for another installment -- probably stole the idea from "Alien: Resurrection" -- but I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night, knowing that I sorta recommended this film to someone.

LOL, Screamwriter! I have seen some pretty dumb horror flicks...so if this one is even kinda okay, don't worry about it.

Oh, and did you see this week's "Fear Itself" is zombie theme? Should be a hoot.
