Sorry...

(That’ll make more sense in a few days)

Watched last night’s “Fear Itself” with Eric Roberts...meh. Could have been a very good story about redemption, but a settled for so-so one about revenge... the ending felt a bit tacked on. Seriously thought about that Fox sitcom contest for a few days -- even came up with something non-paranormal -- but the last thing I needed was yet another diversion. I’ll save the idea for a future screenplay.

I was hoping the saved little boy would come into play somehow. Also, I just thought it was weird that any cop would get away with torturing people and not get tossed out on his ass long before he got to the point of slitting the one dude's throat.

But the house was creepy as were the changing drawings on the wall.

I also wanted the house to have some sort of meaning to the history of this guy.

Oh, and did you get the same feeling I did that the fear of guns and his history was quite irrelevant to the whole story? I didn't need to know why this guy used a knife instead of a gun or why he did what he did to people.

Here's to hoping this week's story is better.

Fear Itself is slowly becoming the debacle that ABC's Masters Of Sci Fi became. The first two episodes probably would have been much better as 30 min episodes for at times the story was good but quickly became very cliched to say the least...

Kristin,
You sound like an eternal optimist. Another episode with a lot of good individual elements, but not coming together as a whole. I’m starting to sense a pattern here...

Rashad,
I agree. There hasn’t been enough meat on the stories to sustain them for hour long episodes. When this is over, we might not see another horror/sci-fi anthology for a while.

Yes, Screamwriter, I am an optimist. But I also this this series is MUCH better than Masters of Sci Fi. Most of those were junk, as far as I am concerned.

Both of the episodes of Fear Itself have at least been creepy and disturbing. It's the stories that aren't 100% working in the end. But the suspense and tv gore is pretty good so far.

Also, I am much easier to please in summer months when so little new tv is on. During the regular tv season, I probably would have watched episode 1 and decided to cut it from my TiVO!

The ratings aren't great, but most of the viewers who tuned in for the premiere, came back for the second episode. Maybe there's a lesson to be learned here...
